Why I left Wix
In October 2026, I moved Manifesting Quantum off Wix. The site now runs on Cloudflare, on domains and files we control, and in November I finished the job: I switched off the leftover Wix automations — including an AI marketing agent that was still drafting blog posts we never asked for and preparing a Google Ads campaign pointed at the old, dead Wix address — and audited every paid item left in the account.
The pattern was always the same. Wix's energy went to the upsell: the next plan, the next add-on, the next AI feature. What we had already paid for — a fast site, clean analytics, tools that left us alone — got whatever attention was left over. A platform that profits from your dependency will keep you dependent. Robert's verdict after the move, and mine: they kept us stale for over a year, and we paid for the privilege.
What owning the ground actually means: the files are ours and portable. The DNS answers to us. The analytics are ours to read honestly, bots and all. If any vendor vanished tomorrow, the company would still be standing the next morning. That's not a technical preference; it's the whole business model. Attention rented from platforms rises and falls — ground you own compounds.
The lesson I now build into every client site: rent tools freely, but never rent the ground your business stands on. Your domain, your files, your list. Everything else is negotiable.
